Robert Rautio, MBA, brings frontline experience, operational leadership, and business education to the work of developing EMS leaders.
His EMS career began in Eastern Connecticut in 2007, progressing from EMT and paramedic to operations manager and Director of Operations at American Ambulance Service. In that role, he led a 24/7 service across four locations, with approximately 150 employees, and guided operations through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At Hartford HealthCare, Rob’s experience spans EMS network development and hospital EMS coordination. His work has connected EMS agencies, hospital teams, medical leadership, and community partners around education, quality improvement, and shared operational priorities.
An EMS instructor and former founder and executive director of Rautio Training Associates, Rob understands both the classroom and the organization behind it. He holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Columbia Southern University.
Through ems.fyi, Rob brings these perspectives together to help EMS organizations develop thoughtful leaders, strengthen their teams, and turn good ideas into everyday practice.
